On the average, 7 out of every 10 (about 70%) paralegals gain employment in law firms. The other 30% find employment in the government or for legal departments within corporations.
Another statistic shows that most paralegals either possess an associate's degree in paralegal studies or a bachelor's degree along with a certificate in the paralegal studies. As you can imagine, it is currently much more difficult for an individual desiring to gain employment as a paralegal to do so without any specialized training.
Paralegals work closely with attorneys and help prepare legal documents and perform legal research.
The job outlook for paralegals is excellent. The paralegal profession is expected to grow at a much faster rate than average. This is due to the fact that employers are trying to lower their costs by hiring a paralegal (whom they can pay less) than an attorney. It only makes financial sense for a law firm to have paralegals perform all the jobs they can legally perform.
