A large variety of education levels exists between paralegals. Paralegals may have a one-year paralegal certificate, or 2 to 4-year degrees specializing in paralegal studies. Others have a bachelor's or even a master's degree in another field.
The minimum education requirements for a paralegal include a high school diploma or GED, but a growing number now have a baccalaureate degree.
There are no specific educational requirements in most U.S. states for paralegals. You do not need to get a paralegal certificate or attend a college for the paralegal; however, some sort of formal paralegal training or education is usually necessary to secure employment in many competitive and higher paying markets.
