Paralegal Bachelors Degree
The Bachelors Degree in paralegal studies is a 4-year program if taken on its own, or a 2-year program if added onto the end of an Associates Degree. Students who take the Associates Degree initially, and then continue, are fully catered for with credit transfers, loan extensions and the like. Online programs, of which there is a reasonably wide selection, offer the possibility of diluting and extending the course to last up to 7 years. The Paralegal Bachelors Degree is a standard, well-respected qualification in the employment world. It guarantees a broadly-based background in subjects other than law, such as business, economics, English and social sciences. For this reason it can serve as a springboard to further study as well as providing the graduate with flexibility in his or her career path. The degree is suitable for employment in a law firm, or, alternatively, in the legal department of a corporation, in a government agency, or in a non-profit organization. The exact content of Paralegal Bachelors Degree courses varies from institution to institution but the general aim is to cover civil, criminal, administrative and procedural law comprehensively and at some depth, while at the same time offering options in more specialized areas of law. These options, while not necessarily equipping the student with the skills necessary for immediate employment in the field, allow enough of an insight into their work practices and conditions to permit informed career choices on graduation.
